Occupational Therapists and COTAs

Donna Greene, OTR/L, is the president and owner of KIDS-R-US Therapy. She has a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University and is licensed and registered with the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy. She has 19 years experience providing pediatric OT therapy services. Donna’s areas of interest include: developmental delays, feeding issues, and sensory dysfunction.  Her passion is working with special needs children and their families. Donna enjoys the team approach and spending time outside of the therapy role with her staff.

Pat Behrle, COTA/L, graduated from Durham Technical Community College with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science, Occupational Therapy Assistant. Pat is also a graduate of SUNY College at Cortland with a B.S. in Physical Education Sciences. She enjoys working with pediatric populations in all areas and settings, including: home health, early intervention, and in schools.

Dana Bissette (Sanders), OTR/L, has a B.S. in Human Resources from North Carolina State University and a M.S. in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University. She currently serves pre-k through high school students with varying disabilities in Franklin County. Dana’s areas of interest include school-age children and stroke patients.

Stephanie Capehart, OTR/L, received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University. She has provided therapeutic intervention in various settings including early intervention, CDSA, homes, schools, and nursing homes. Stephanie’s expertise includes working with children with various diagnoses such as ADHD/ADD, behavioral issues, autism, developmentally delayed, and sensory integration disorders. She also has extensive experience with the Handwriting Without Tears Program.

Donna Laing, OTR/L, received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University. She has provided occupational therapy services to developmentally disabled persons in a state residential facility and in preschool settings. Donna has worked with children with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, sensory impairments, and other developmental delays. Donna enjoys serving children with special needs.

Maria LeFrancois, COTA/L, graduated from Orange County Community College with an A.A.S. degree for Occupational Therapy Assistant. She has experience working with school children with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing issues, and visual / fine motor delays. Her areas of interest include: autism, sensory integration, and occulomotor function. Maria loves her job and reaps satisfaction when a child’s life is positively impacted by OT.

Jerri Ostergren, OTR/L, is a graduate of Ohio State with over 40 years experience working with children and adults in a variety of settings. After retiring as lead therapist for the Chapel Hill School District, she has worked filling in for school therapists on leave. Jerri enjoys working with children of all ages, their families, and other team members. She feels a coordinated team approach provided in the child's natural setting is the key to maximizing a child's potential. Her areas of interest are: Down syndrome, autism, sensory processing disorders, handwriting difficulties, and environmental access.

Denise L. Smith, OT, is a graduate of East Carolina University and has 25 years of experience as a pediatric therapist. Her main focus is preschool and school-aged children with special needs. She has experience in the areas of feeding and sensory issues through working in the public school system, with United Cerebral Palsy, The Tammy Lynn Center, and early intervention. Denise enjoys are being with her family, working with various ages in church activities, cooking, and music.

Rebecca H. Wight, COTA/L, is a graduate from Pitt Community College with an A.A.S. degree for occupational therapy. She has 10 years experience working with pediatrics in schools, homes, and daycare settings. Rebecca has worked with children with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and sensory impairments. She has geriatric experience in hospital, rehab, SNF, and assisted living settings. Rebecca's work in the occupational therapy field is a very important part of her life.

Speech-Language Therapists

Adrienne A. Bohannon, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned a B.A. from Wake Forest University and a M.A. in speech-language pathology from Indiana University. She has worked with children in clinical, home, and educational settings. During her time at Riley Hospital for Children (Indianapolis, IN) and Duke Children's Hospital, she worked in neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. Adrienne's areas of interest include: child language development, Down syndrome, feeding, and dysphagia. Adrienne has training in TEAACH, PECS, collaborative language programs, supporting young dual language learners, pediatric nutrition and using visual support and multiple approaches for children on the autism spectrum.

Amy Dinno, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned a bachelor’s degree and master's degree in Communication Disorders from Eastern Michigan University. She has over 13 years experience working with preschool through junior high students in the public school setting. Amy's background includes working with hearing impaired students, co-teaching in elementary and resource room classrooms, and co-developing and implementing a parent-toddler class. Her experience includes emergent literacy, phonological awareness, receptive and expressive language disorders, autism, pragmatics fluency, learning disabilities, and articulation. Amy has been very active with the Oakland County Speech and Language Association in Michigan.

Gwendolyn Glass, M.S. CCC-SLP, received her B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology from Johnson State College and her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has worked with children in schools, clinic, and early intervention settings. Gwendolyn has training in Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, PROMPT, TEAACH, PECS, and Floortime methodologies. She has experience working with speech and language disorders associated with autism, Down syndrome, and cognitive deficits. Gwendolyn has experience treating a variety of speech and language disorders such as apraxia, stuttering, articulation, and phonology disorders; and extensive experience treating children with language delays. She has 20 years of experience working with children and 7 years experience working as a speech pathologist.

Courtney Howard, M.A., CCC-SLP, holds a B.S. in Speech Pathology from the University of Central Florida and a M.A. in Speech Pathology from the University of Iowa. While in college, she published research on the efficacy of fluency interventions. For the past three years, Courtney worked with children facing a wide variety of communication and feeding impairments in an outpatient hospital clinic. Her areas of interest include working with fluency, early child language development, older child language/cognition, and aphasia. Courtney enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with family and friends.

Anne Raymer, M.A., CCC-SLP, earned a B.S. in Speech from Iowa State University and a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maryland. She has 23 years of experience working with preschool through high school aged children in public schools, schools for the deaf, in home, and daycare settings. Anne taught sign language and cued speech to children, families, and educators. Her areas of interest include hearing impairment, cochlear implants, language development and delay, early literacy, articulation, Down Syndrome, and voice disorders.

Tekia White, ITFS, earned a B.S. degree in Child Development from Meredith College. Her knowledge and expertise include global delays in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development; and providing care/early intervention for infants, toddlers, and preemies. She also provided newborn hearing screens. With 6 years experience in the early childhood field Tekia also possess basic conversational Spanish skills.
